“If it’s BOTH – terrifying and amazing – then you should definitely pursue it.”
This post won’t get you over the fear of public speaking, only training, practice and experience will BUT it will help you getting started.
THE ONE question I hear most from speakers (aspiring and professional ones) is:
HOW DO I GET MORE SPEAKING GIGS? (OR HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH SPEAKING GIGS?)
London is FULL of opportunities and if you would want to, you could speak around the clock, 7 days a week but due to the vast amount of events/gigs and platforms most speakers struggle getting started.
Key is to use a FINDING GIGS SEQUENCE:
Start with spending at least 30 min a week to apply above sequence to get yourself booked for gigs.
RESEARCH your industry. CONNECT with new organisers or existing contacts. NURTURE organisations that booked you before. FOLLOW-UP in structured way and GET BOOKED.
Anyone on the speaking circuit already contact your local Chamber of Commerce, banks with a business team that runs events, libraries that run business events, check other speakers that speak on your or complimentary subjects or go through Eventbrite to find organisers.
THE BIGGER GIGS WILL FOLLOW ONCE YOU HAVE BUILD UP ENOUGH CREDIBILITY AND EXPERTISE at the ground level.
I don’t know where to start isn’t an excuse… START to do SOMETHING by simply following this sequence for a minimum of 30 min per week.
If you are really stuck simply contact us here. We have been helping speakers since 2011. Annik x
